Huge Thanks to Shirt Sponsors - the Elizabethan Lodge of Bath Freemasons

Steve Bird7 Sep - 13:57

Avon RFC are very grateful for this generous donation to supply our playing shirts specially designed for our centenary season

Avon have reverted to the all black shirts as worn in our inaugural season in 1925 and in our Golden Jubilee season in 1975-76. The logo features our standard rampant lion, together with some text about 100 years plus the oars to represent our origins from our founders at Avon rowing club in 1925.

The following message was provided by the Elizabethan Lodge ....

As we prepare to enter a new Masonic year next month, Elizabethan Lodge is proud to announce our continued support for the local community - this time by sponsoring the centenary season shirts of Avon Rugby Football Club.

The sponsorship celebrates a strong and long-standing bond between our Lodge and the club, with several Elizabethan members being former Avon RFC players. The shared values of teamwork, commitment, and community - central to both Freemasonry and rugby - made this partnership a natural fit.

Before kick-off at their first league fixture of the season on the 6th September, W.Bro. Paul Mallon (pictured left-centre) and W.Bro. Malcolm Toogood, current Worshipful Master (pictured centre-right), were honoured to present the newly sponsored shirts to the team. The kit proudly commemorates Avon RFC’s 100th anniversary, featuring a nod to their original 1925 strip and the club’s historic rowing roots.

We’re also delighted to report that Avon RFC made a winning start to their centenary campaign, securing a thrilling 44–33 victory over Chew Valley 2nds in front of a home crowd - the perfect way to launch the season.

We wish the club continued success in this milestone year, and look forward to another year of fellowship and service in the Elizabethan Lodge.
