Avon rugby club celebrated a successful season after finishing 3rd in the league and winning the Bath Combination Vase final on the Rec.

Head Coach Kai Harwood thanked his players for their commitment throughout the season and was delighted to present the Players’ Player of the Year award to Rob Fitch for his consistent performances. Ben May collected the trophy for the Most Improved Player whilst new recruit Will Bartholomew was awarded the Young Player.

Club Captain Kane Book praised the whole coaching team and presented the Clubman of the Year award to Kai Harwood for his unstinting efforts not only this season but also for many years. He paid credit to two key players who are moving away from the area in Jake Coates and Oscar McCormack and also handed out his special Captains Cup to Rhys Van Den Handel.

Chairman Ian Monochino-Ayres thanked all the volunteers who help to run the Club behind the scenes, epitomised by Terry Gapper who picked up the award for Special Services.

Number 8 Dan Cousineau received the trophy for top try scorer with 19 tries whilst Kiddie Sheikh was the recipient for the try of the season which clinched the single point home win over Clevedon.

2nd team captain Ben Hurd thanked his Elite players for their performances during the year with 13 of his squad also representing the 1st team at various stages. The Elite player of the season went to Ed Bolton whilst Iain Parris was crestfallen to learn that he had won the "Golden Shower".

Veteran prop Chris Mutlow was thanked for efforts in preparing the excellent curry night with a choice of Chicken Muttdras, Chicken Muttsala or Victory Vindaloo and also picked up the "Under the Thumb" trophy.

Throughout the next 10 weeks, Avon are hosting the Bath Summer Touch Rugby tournament each Wednesday evening at their Hicks Field ground. Then in early July pre-season training resumes as Avon start to embark on their prestigious Centenary season.
