AN “OARSOME” ACHIEVEMENT

AN “OARSOME” ACHIEVEMENT

Steve Bird11 Jun - 19:00

This forthcoming season, Avon Rugby Football Club celebrate their Centenary, having originally been founded in 1925.

As part of a variety of events and memorabilia, Avon’s traditional logo has been slightly modified to commemorate this momentous milestone in their history.

It still retains the authentic Club colours of black and amber and still features the original rampant lion. Both these items are inherited from the logo of the Avon Rowing Club, whose members first founded the rugby club 100 years ago as a means for their members to keep fit during the winter months.

The new Centenary motif is emboldened by a white outline to accentuate the design, together with some text to denote the 100 year anniversary. Finally in a subtle nod to our original parent club, the new design incorporates the crossed oars of the intrepid oarsmen who first launched Avon RFC all those years ago.

Appropriately of course, Avon rugby club’s headquarters and ground is situated immediately next to the river Avon at Hicks Field, off the London Road at Batheaston. The revamped logo will proudly feature on the new special Centenary playing shirts which will be used during matches in the upcoming season.

Many thanks to Damien Sawyer for producing the new design.
