Clive Book clocked up an historic 30 years as Director of Rugby since returning to his roots at Avon from Bath rugby in 1996. Meanwhile his son Kane extends his period as Club Captain to 8 years after taking over from his brother Scott in 2019. Leading the coaching set up, Kai Harwood enters his 11th year as Head Coach after his own 10 years of captaincy ended.
With the untimely death of Tony Mutlow earlier this year, longstanding club stalwart Steve Bird was elected to the role of President. Ian Monochino-Ayres continues as Chairman for the 11th year, whilst Paul Kirby fills the positions of both Secretary and Treasurer for 14 years running. Continuing the theme of longevity, Chris Mutlow extends his role as Fixture Secretary to 15 years, as well as acting as Clubhouse Manager and Buildings/Ground lead. Some fresh energy sees the Committee extended with Ed Boulton filling the role of Marketing and Sponsorship, whilst Iain Parris is responsible for Media and Promotion.
Although the start of the season has been postponed by the RFU for 2 weeks, training sessions and preparations are continuing apace on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Avon’s Hicks Field ground off the London Road at Batheaston. Any new players seeking 1st team league rugby or more social 2nd team games are invited to come along and will be made very welcome.
