History was made at Avon rugby club’s AGM as Kane Book was elected Club Captain to succeed his brother Scott who stood down after 3 years in charge.

Whilst Avon have had 2 different brothers to captain the Club before, this was the first time that they have had 3 club captains from the same family, after their father Clive previously held that role back in 2004.

Stability remained the main theme for most of the other official positions on the committee as Ian Monochino-Ayres continues as Chairman with Paul Kirby again acting as Secretary and Treasurer. Tony Mutlow is again President as well as being responsible for the clubhouse and grounds, whilst his son Christopher continues as Fixture Secretary.

One significant change sees a two pronged Sponsorship Secretary role as Ian "the snail" Burnell and Iain "the Turk" Parris join forces to take on this important role for the Club.

On the playing front, Clive Book remains the Director of Rugby with Kai Harwood serving as Club Coach, supported by Chaz Meddick. Louis Belsten again continues as 2nd team captain. Pre season training will start on Tuesday 2nd July from 7pm onwards at Avon’s Hicks Field ground off the London Road at Batheaston. Any new players looking to test themselves in Somerset Premier or any social players seeking more relaxed rugby within the 2nd team will be made most welcome at this local family community club. Please contact Kai Harwood on 07380 188519 or Kane Book on 07817 220418 for more details.
