Although the home side took an early lead with a penalty, Avon responded with 3 visits to their opponents' 22 but were repelled by stout defence and unnecessary penalties in the red zone.
With Jake Dixon, Ben Dilloway and Scott Book ruling the skies in the line out and their powerful front row getting the edge at scrum time, Avon increased the pressure and deservedly took the lead just before half time. Ross Atherton fastened onto a clever kick ahead and unleashed fellow centre young Zak Harwood to storm over the try line with Rob Fitch adding the extras.
Berry Hill hit back after the interval as they mounted a long range attack down the left side before the scrum half supported for a well worked try.
Magnificent Avon defence prevented any further scores and Fullback Stu Dilloway inspired a fight back full of character and passion. With stand-in scrum half Damo Sawyer pulling the strings, Avon cranked up the pressure on the home defence.
Ian Burnell put in his best performance of the season on the flank and Dexter Robinson showed his capabilities as a replacement for the the groggy Book. With their 2 young wingers impressing in attack and defence, Avon mounted an impressive charge to threaten the home defence.
Declining a penalty chance, Avon took an attacking line out and swiftly transferred the ball to centre Ross Atherton who cut a great line to cross for a try under the posts, converted by Fitch.
With the home side visibly rattled, they lost their discipline and after 4 previous warnings, were eventually yellow carded. Avon turned the screw and another powerful scrummage led by effervescent hooker Ben Hurd resulted in stalwart Kai Harwood charging over the line for another try to cement the win, coolly converted by Fitch.
