With a crowd of former players eagerly awaiting Avon's return to action at their annual reunion, they were disappointed with the phone call at lunchtime from Hornets to say that they couldn't raise a team.
The buffet arranged for the Avon and Weston players was eventually demolished though and, in the true spirit of rugby, Avonvale agreed to switch their planned home fixture against Avon 2nds back to Hicks Field so that some live action was witnessed, along with a few Keynsham players who added to the numbers.
Unfortunately, England couldn't do the business against France but the evening karaoke session revealed some hidden talents that were probably best off still being hidden!
After having donated man-of-the-match awards all season, Avon stalwart John Cashnella was surprised when the Avon players presented him with a club hoodie for his 85th birthday.
Josh Harding-Wyatt won the medal for the non-existent game against Hornets as he didn't make a mistake all day!
