With the Avon side was much changed from last week with a large number returning from injury and unavailability, the home supporters were looking for a win and as the side was also bolstered by the return of Glen Atherton, Rob Fitch and Will Hayward both having their first outings of the season in addition to the impressive Tom Boreham making his first team debut their optimism was justified..
The new look Avon always looked the better side and made a confident start but their attacking intend cost them early on when after 12 min found themselves 10 points down after giving away a cheap penalty and an interception try as they looked to attack at every opportunity .
Having gone back to basics the home side slowly got back in control using their driving game to good effect and it was a 30 metre catch and drive which gave them their first home points of the season as youngster Xander Davis broke off to score. They soon levelled the scores when Glen Atherton finished off a counter attack to score in the left hand corner and just two mins later dotted down in the same place to give the home side the lead following a good drive and offload from Will Hayward. Bachelor add the extras from the touchline
The bonus point try came early in the second half courtesy of Ian Burnell following another excellent drive from the pack. Avon were in total control at this point with the midfield of Boreham, Fitch and Harwood proving to be a real handful and the pace of Atherton and Bachelor causing problems wide out. Just as the time when Avon should really have made the most of their supremacy the errors started creeping in and allowed Tor to get two quick try's to bring them within two point of their hosts before Avon finally killed the game off with 5 mins to go when the tireless Will Hayward crashed over to seal the win.
Coach Kai Harwood was pleased to be able to give a debut to young back row forward Rory Crowther who looked impressive in his short shift as they closed the game out but will be looking for his team to cut out the errors when the Hicksfield side travel to Corston to face Stotherts in an evening fixture on Thursday.
