"Blank" Weekend Sees Another Blank

Expecting a blank weekend with no league fixtures, several of the Avon squad had booked a stag weekend away for Ben Dilloway’s forthcoming wedding but their replacements settled in well to produce another performance full of character and commitment.

After going behind to 10 nil scoreline, Avon’s pack gained some reward for their efforts with a powerful surge that led to Josh Harding-Wyatt ploughing over for a pushover try. Johnny Batchelor converted and also slotted a penalty whilst Chew added another try for a half time lead.

Exploiting some gaps through the reshuffle, Chew extended their lead before Xander Davis finished off another powerful drive for Avon’s second try. With just a 7 point deficit, Avon went all out to level the match and almost scored again as Sam Book was held up over the line. Then with time running out and Avon chasing the game, Chew escaped to put the result beyond doubt with their final try to register a slightly flattering 27-15 win.
