Wellington looked the sharper of the two sides from the start and with the visitors hampered by the loss of centre Stuart Dilloway in the warm up and being forced into playing two back row forwards in their makeshift back line it always looked like they were going to be stretched by the pacey Wellington Backline who looked to put width on the game at every opportunity. When Avon lost Fly Half Fitch to the sin bin after 15 mins they took full advantage by running 3 trys in quick succession. Avon pulled one back when centre Zak Harwood crashed over just before half time.
Avon had a slight edge up front and their scrum dominance was rewarded with A penalty try as Wellington infringed as they were being marched back towards their own line from a 5 metre scrum. This was never going to be enough though and Wellington kept the scoreboard ticking over to end up comfortable 39 14 winner.
Avon will be looking to regroup over the summer and will be looking forward to the return of many of their long term injuries next season.
