Avon had the edge in every department but made hard work of turning possession into points in the first half, being held up twice over the line and dropping another chance.
They eventually opened up their account with a well worked try in the corner for the impressive fullback Jonny Batchelor who was making his 100th appearance for Avon.
Once Avon settled down into a more controlled style of attack, the tries came at regular intervals with Xander Davis and Matt Thresher crossing the line. Then veteran Ben Hurd, making his first start of the season, secured the bonus point try just before half time with a trademark hooker score following a powerful catch and drive.
Yatton’s battling efforts had been rewarded with 2 penalties and a try after a dropped Avon pass. But, having to play up the slope and against the wind in the second half, they were not to trouble the scoreboard again.
Avon went on to score six more tries, the first from player coach Jake Coates making a welcome return to the side following injury. With Avon now switching to a wider game it was the backs who monopolised the scoring.
Fly half Rob Fitch who was pulling the strings all afternoon collected one , scrum half Kiddie Sheikh picked up two and winger Matt Thresher added two more to end up with his first hat trick of his Avon career. Centurion Batchelor added 4 conversions to make the final score 11 - 58.
This win moves Avon up to third place and with a week off this Saturday, they will face 4th placed Hornets at Hicksfield in their next game.
