A packed clubhouse celebrated Avon’s annual Dinner and Awards ceremony.

Although a difficult season, director of rugby Clive Book congratulated the players on their positive attitude and commitment and praised the new coaches, Kai Harwood and Chaz Meddick, on their energy and new ideas which will bear fruit in the future. He also emphasised the camaraderie and spirit within a true family club.

Club Captain, Scott Book, also drew attention to the youngsters who were progressing into senior rugby, whilst Chairman Ian Monochino-Ayres thanked all the volunteers behind the scenes who help to keep the club thriving.

Two of Avon’s promising 18 years olds collected awards: Sam Wykes as the Most Improved Player and Xander Davis as the Young Player of the Year. JJ Pulvertaft was selected as the 1st team Player of the Year, whilst Dom Tucker collected the equivalent for the 2nd team.

Scott Book and Dan Mutlow were awarded tankards as the 1st and 2nd team captains, whilst Kane Book picked up the Captains Cup for his unstinting support during the year, playing every minute of every game.

Kane Book also doubled up by receiving the Clubman of the Year trophy for all his efforts off the field as well. The prestigious Special Services award was presented to Life Member Steve Bird for his unstinting efforts over many years.

Kane also shared the dubious pleasure of the Golden Shower award with Josh Harding-Wyatt whilst Louis "Hartcliffe" Belsten was presented with the Stotherts 2nd team player of the year trophy from a shortlist of one, after his guest appearance earlier in the season.

Of the original attendees at the start of the dinner, their stamina was recognised after an all-night session as Dan Mutlow, Kai Harwood, Kane Book, Ozzie Bryan and Glen Atherton trudged along the London Road for breakfast at Morrisons.

Onward and Upward next season!
