John was a fervent and regular supporter on the touchline, watching Avon both home and away in all weathers, alongside his regular companion Jos Davies.
Having originally joined Avon 68 years ago, John was a popular Life Member of the club and a familiar face to the players, who hoped to be awarded his bottle of bubbly and presented with his medal for the man-of-the-match.
His 85th birthday was recently commemorated by the players presenting him with an Avon hoody to help keep him warm on the touchline. Those MoM awards seem all the more poignant now.
Our thoughts are with Jos at this sad and difficult time and also with his son Martin.
RIP John – you will be greatly missed by the Avon family.
