Over 100 Girls Enjoy Tag Rugby Festival

Avon rugby club hosted the BANES Primary Schools Girls Tag Rugby Festival at their Hicks Field ground last week.

Around 100 girls took part in the round-robin tournament from 11 local schools, including Moorlands, St Martins Garden, St Saviour's Juniors, Oldfield Park Juniors, Newbridge, Widcombe Juniors, Saltford, Paulton Juniors, St Nicholas Radstock, Chandag Juniors and Westfield.

Afterwards Dave Burston, the BANES primary schools sports coordinator, said “This was the third year for this festival and we have more schools than ever taking part. The quality of the games have improved every year and the girls enjoy playing in a supportive environment . This is a great opportunity for the girls to enjoy playing and learning an exciting team sport at the fantastic venue of Avon RFC, whose hospitality is much appreciated”
