Avon celebrated a successful season at their Annual Dinner, finishing 3rd in Somerset Premier and integrating several youngsters into the 1st team.

Joint top try scorer Alex Gapper was awarded the Young Player of the Year trophy whilst his father Terry Gapper was delighted to receive the Clubman of the Year award. Jonny Batchelor, who was also top points scorer and made the fullback position his own, collected the Most Improved Player.

Ian Burnell, who consistently excelled at either wing forward or hooker, was presented with the players choice as the 1st team Player of the Year whilst Club Chairman Ian Monochino-Ayres was selected as the 2nd team Player of the Year. Meanwhile the versatile Josh Harding-Wyatt received the Captain’s Cup from Club Captain Scott Book for his support throughout the season.

The Bruce Bowie Kiwi Cup for Special Services to Avon was awarded to Janet Mutlow for her unstinting work behind the scenes in the clubhouse and in the kitchen over countless years.

Some rugby action is continuing at Hicks Field during the summer months as Avon are again hosting the Bath Summer Touch league every Wednesday evening during May, June and July.
